The Collection

The Silhouettes.
One Maker.

The Umbra
The Umbra
umbra · shadow
There is a quality of light that exists only at the edge of things — not darkness, not illumination, but the precise moment between. The Umbra is not worn to be seen. It is worn by those who have nothing left to prove.
The Noctis
The Noctis
noctis · of the night
The largest thing Van Leer makes, and perhaps the most deliberate. Fifty hours of hand construction produce a bag that will outlast the person who commissions it. The Noctis is not a purchase. It is a decision.
The Vesper
The Vesper
vesper · dusk
Vesper is the hour when the day concedes. Compact, precise, carried close. Its turn-lock closes with the quiet authority of a well-kept secret. Hand-stitched in the luxury material of your choice.
The Lucerna
The Lucerna
lucerna · lantern
In the oldest darkness, a lantern was not decoration. It was the difference between finding your way and losing it entirely. The smallest thing Van Leer makes — and the most considered.

All prices are starting points. Final commission pricing reflects leather selection, hardware, and complexity.

Brand Story

Crafted from
Conviction

Van Leer is a bespoke atelier founded on a simple belief: that the objects we carry daily deserve the same care and intention as fine jewelry.

“One maker. One piece at a time. For those who know.”

Every Van Leer piece is conceived, patterned, and hand-stitched by one maker — bringing thirty-five years of design instinct, engineering precision, and fine motor craft to bear on each commission.

We do not produce collections. We produce pieces. For people who understand the difference.

I
Bespoke Commission
Every piece begins with a conversation. Leather selection, hardware finish, dimensions — all chosen by the client, executed by the maker.
II
Hand-Stitched Construction
Saddle-stitched by hand using waxed linen thread. Stronger and more repairable than machine stitching — built to last generations.
III
Signed & Authenticated
Each Van Leer piece carries the maker’s blind-embossed seal on the interior, confirming its provenance and authorship.

The Commission Process

How a Van Leer
Piece Begins

Every commission begins with a conversation. There are no catalogs to browse, no configurations to click through. You tell the maker what you desire. The maker tells you what is possible. Then the work begins.

I
Initial Inquiry
Reach out via email or Instagram DM with your silhouette interest, preferred leather, hardware finish, and any reference images. No commitment required at this stage.
II
Consultation & Specification
A brief conversation — by email or call — to confirm leather type, color, hardware finish, size, and any bespoke details. A formal quote is provided within 48 hours.
III
Deposit & Scheduling
A 50% deposit secures your place in the commission queue. Van Leer accepts one to two commissions per month. Current lead time is communicated at time of inquiry.
IV
Construction & Delivery
Progress photos are shared at key stages. Balance is due upon completion. Each piece ships with a certificate of authenticity bearing the maker’s seal and a care guide.
